BUILDING INTEREST IN OUR STUDENTS

Nutter Corporation and the Northwest College of Construction teamed up give area students a real, hands-on feel for the industry. Turnout exceeded everyone's expectations, with teens showing up every day of their spring break (at 7:30 a.m. no less) to experience working in the construction industry.

LEADING BY EXAMPLE

Commerce Magazine asked Greater Portland area residents to show them the area's best movers and shakers when it comes to building community. Commerce Magazine recognized Jerry Nutter, President of Nutter Corporation as an inductee into the magazine's Hall of Fame as one of the 15 best.



THE GATE HOUSE

Nutter Corporation is pleased to have provided leadership for the groundwork in constructing GATE House in Vancouver, Washington, which provides a home base for approximately 30 students with difficulties, ages 18 to 21. The program provides activity-based, hands-on instruction to help studens become self-sufficient and productive members of society.



DOZER DAY 2008

Where kids drive Nutter Corporation's heavy equipment for the Vancouver Parks Foundation. Equipment operators donate their time to let kids drive! Attracting more than 12,000 kids and 20,000 people overall this year, it was a very successful fundraiser for the Parks Foundation. Disabilities awareness and education opportunities are offered during each Dozer Day Event.

FIELD OF DREAMS

The "thwonk" of a ball caught in the mitt. The crack of the bat and the excitement of a home run is experienced by hundreds of Little League and youth baseball players around Clark County, thanks to the Field of Dreams project sponsored in part by Nutter Corporation. Nutter supports youth sporting events around the Greater Portland and Southwest Washington area through countless hours of employee volunteers.

TRAVELING VIETNAM MEMORIAL WALL

Nutter Corporation largely supported the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall, which visited Happy Valley, Oregon. Nutter provided the excavation for the footing, built the pad, installed drainage and helped to set up the wall for visitation, including creating the viewing area during Memorial Day weekend in 2006.



WOMEN IN TRADES

A Women in Trades event held in Portland attracted many young women interested in learning about the field of construction. In cooperation with Pape Machinery, Nutter provided a small excavator for every student to try his or her skill at placing a ball attached by a rope at the end of the bucket onto an orange safety cone. 23 seconds is the time to beat!




SUPPORTING OUR KIDS

Nutter Corporation supports our local youth who are involved in agricultural and equestrian activities. In 2006 and 2007, Nutter participated in the 4H Junior Livestock Auction by purchasing livestock to encourage youth who are developing agricultural skills. Nutter also sponsored a youth participant in a national horse show. By supporting these constructive activities, we help kids learn that hard work bears fruit, which builds a healthy work ethic (click on the photos above to see individual stories).



SUPPORTING OUR STUDENTS

Nutter Corporation helped guide a tour of 20 Parkrose High School students on a tour of the Ikea worksite near the Portland International Airport. The students, who are interested construction careers, got a detailed, first hand look at the job site being prepared by Nutter.
